Children's Privacy & Age Policy

1. Minimum Age: 13+ (parental consent required under 18)

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Cosmic AI.
• If you are under 18, you may use Cosmic AI only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts our Terms of Service on your behalf and is responsible for your use.
• Cosmic AI is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 13 to create an account or use the service.

2. Children Under 13 (COPPA)

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete the account and the associated data promptly. 3. Users Aged 13–17

For users under 18, a parent or guardian:

• Must consent to and supervise the minor's use of Cosmic AI.
• May contact us at [email protected] to review, correct, or delete their child's information, or to stop further collection or use.

We encourage parents and guardians to be involved in a minor's use of AI tools and to review our AI Disclosure & Content Guidelines.

4. ⚠ Important Provider-Routing Limitation (open compliance item)

Internal note for the Cosmic AI team — this is a genuine risk, not boilerplate.

Cosmic AI routes prompts to multiple third-party providers. Anthropic (Claude) requires users to be 18 or older and enforces it. OpenAI permits 13+ with parental consent, but other providers vary. If a user under 18 is routed to a provider that requires 18+, you (and the user) breach that provider's terms, which can put your provider accounts at risk.

Before serving under-18 users at scale, you must do one of the following:

• Gate model routing by age— never send under-18 users' requests to providers that require 18+ (e.g., exclude Claude for those accounts); or
• Obtain an enterprise/education agreement with each provider that permits minors; or
• Restrict under-18 access to a safety-reviewed subset of features and models.

Until one of these is in place, a 13+ policy is only safe if the router actually enforces the age gate. Track this as a required engineering task, not just a legal-text change.

5. Age-Appropriate Design and State Laws

Serving minors triggers additional obligations under some US state laws (for example, California's Age-Appropriate Design Code and similar minor-privacy laws). Before a wide launch to minors, review: default privacy settings for minors, limits on profiling/targeted advertising to minors, and age-appropriate safety settings. Consult counsel on which states apply to you.

6. Education / Academic Product (Phase 2)

The Phase-2 education offering aimed at students will likely include minors and schools. If you contract with schools or districts, you will also need to address FERPA and student-data-privacy requirements (often via a Data Processing Addendum and student-data agreements), and confirm each AI provider permits the intended student use. Treat the education launch as a distinct compliance project with counsel; do not rely solely on this policy.
